Paper Abstract:      Managing knowledge in distributed environments turns out to become one of the most challenging tasks in future business. This calls for innovative solutions in the field of information systems. Great expectations lie in internet-based systems facilitating the exchange of knowledge via the web. However, these systems have not yet proven to fulfil these expectations in practice. One major problem is to find means for describing the semantics of various knowledge objects in user friendly way. In this paper, findings from behavioural science are applied, indicating that a wide set of different techniques for the context design should be supported. Thus, we present a hybrid approach for context design integrating different techniques like taxonomy and ontology. For implementing the approach, we argue that open source components might set a good basis. However, little experience in the integration of relevant components available has been gathered yet. Hence, experiences from a one-year project are presented and major conclusions are drawn.
